To all students and faculty of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as any alumni who like to keep up with school news: Greetings!

I am most pleased to say that the introduction of the Kolskey-Miggs brand daily journals to our student body has been most successful. Everyone is simply brimming with enthusiasm over them, and I am most proud that homework completion has been at an all-time high, thanks in part, I believe, to the reminders from professors delivered directly to the students’ journals. I do hope that this trend will continue throughout the rest of the school year and, indeed, on into the future.

A reminder to all students that any other brand of journal is forbidden by Educational Decree #329, and will be immediately confiscated by the staff and turned in to the Headmistress. We have already confiscated many illegal journal types, and we do request that everyone turn whatever is left in immediately. If a student is caught with contraband they will be punished, so it is always better to relinquish them voluntarily.

A further reminder of other contraband items includes all Weasley brand magical joke supplies, all copies of seditious papers such as the Quibbler, all Wizarding Wireless receivers, all copies of Muggle literature and other entertainment, etc. For a full list please see the book outside Mr. Filch’s office.

In other news, I am pleased to announce that the Muggleborn Registration Committee will be sending personnel to the school to aid me in discovering how Muggleborn students have come by their powers. It is our hope that starting investigations this early in a Muggleborn’s life will yield more honest answers than from adults, and allow us to root out the plague that has afflicted our most noble society. All students are required to cooperate with the officials of the Committee to the fullest extent. Anyone hindering the investigations will be punished most severely. Therefore, we introduce:

Educational Decree #330

All students with knowledge of Muggleborn children and their backgrounds in the school are required to come to the Headmistress and inform her immediately. Any students hindering the investigation will be punished and/or expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Any questions may be directed in writing to Dolores Jane Umbridge, Headmistress and High Inquisitor.

A reminder that any Muggleborn student who willingly comes forward to aid in the investigations will be treated with the utmost compassion and will be granted amnesty from expulsion. Remember, boys and girls, these investigations are to ensure the purity of your education and keep any undesirable elements from corrupting your thoughts and leading you astray. We want to ensure that our society remains pure and vibrant, and that we forever stay strong in that which defines us: our magic. Abide by the rules and you shall prosper.

Dolores,I understand where you are coming from with your decrees and such, but I urge you to change your ways. You're desperation for control will only hurt you in the end. I have been a proud member of the Wizard Wireless Network in the past. There is no threat there, just purely harmless entertainment to soothe the nervous masses. Please don't blame all forms of entertainment as evil. We are not all out to corrupt. You're treatment of the Muggleborn children is abysmal, they don't deserve this. The are just children! Please, Dolores...Don't do this to the Hogwart's name and everything Albus lived and died for.

Ah, Ms. Chittock. I was wondering when you'd decide to grace us all with your expert opinions. After all, since you've been taken off the air you must find somewhere to express your views.

Really my dear, your arguments are at best rather silly and at worst seditious. WWN receivers have been stamped as contraband because of the number of treasonous programs that continue to spout out their propaganda on the air, which I'm sure we can all agree serves to do nothing but confuse the minds of young, impressionable children. The whole point of education, my dear girl, is to ensure that the young people of our society grow up knowing what is right and what is wrong, and we must keep them from being unduly immersed in that which is wrong. At such a time when seditious programs are kept off the air, the school will be more than happy to allow our students to enjoy the good and lawful entertainment that the WWN provides. We must simply wait it out.

As for your opinions of the treatment of Muggleborns, I find it rather sad that a Pureblooded girl like you has lost sight of what is right and proper to the point that she champions the criminals in our society. Muggleborns, children or no, have come by power that is not rightfully theirs. I'm quite sure that some of them did not do so deliberately, and that is why the investigations are being done among the children, so as to find out how and why this is happening, and learn to control it. Our children are in grave danger of being corrupted by the Muggle influences that these abberations bring in with them, and it is my responsibility to see that such a thing does not happen.

As for Albus Dumbledore, recent publications have shown that he was by no means the hero that so many in the past thought him to be, which, I might add, I have been pointing out for many years now. It is in large part due to his lack of standards and discipline that education in our society has been so lax for so many years. It is quite a trial cleaning up after his mess.

I really do urge you, Ms. Chittock, to re-examine your decision to leave WWN. If you would just take the time to consider your flagging loyalty to the society which raised you, I am certain that you could learn to uphold the beliefs and values that we, the Ministry, are trying to restore. It would be very nice to see someone return to the light.

You were a Hufflepuff, where you not, Dorlores? You have that loyalty there, along with the need to get the job done. Those are noble qualities, just misdirected. I understand the power of propaganda, believe me, I have seen it used to evil as well as good. This is why I cannot rejoin with the WWN, there are too many beliefs there that I just can't agree with. Too much prejudice and hatred.

I realize the darkness in Albus Dumbeldore's past. But, don't we all have a few darker secrets in our closets? No one is pure, snow white her. I am merely remembering all the good he did while I was at Hogwart'd and I am sure if you look back at your time at the school, you'll remember how kind and decent he was also.

I know you are concerned about the children, as you have previously stated, with their impressionable minds. But knowledge is the most important gift you can give a child. They deserve to know the truth to matter what.

Ms. Chittock, please do not presume to tell me what kind of qualities I possess and how you believe they are directed, when you have been censured for your lack of morals and refusal to acquiesce to the rightful demands of the law.

I am unsurprised that you continue to cleave to your nonsensical opinions. I do hope that eventually you come to your senses and recant, but I do not imagine that it will occur anytime soon. I remind you that I am a lawful employee of the Ministry of Magic, and that I represent what has been defined as right to our society. It is my responsibility to decide what our children need to learn, no one else's, and particularly not yours. This is the duty that I have been given and I will uphold it no matter what.

Your opinions, Ms. Chittock, no longer matter. I would suggest that you take this period of unemployment to consider why that is.

I am presuming nothing, Dolores. I started talking to you in hopes that I could maybe reason with you about these decrees and what they are doing to the children. But I can see that you refuse to hear anything except your own righteous indignation.

You have an obvious god complex and I tried to reason with you. As a journalist, I try to see both sides of the story. And I have. Only this story is horribly one sided.

You can say what you will about my opinions. But I am not censored by you and am not a student of yours. I have a voice and intend to use it in places you can't reach. I will never be silenced to the wizarding world.

It really is such a shame to see how far you have fallen, dear Glenda. And to think that you speak to me of righteous indignation. My dear, you really have no idea. I represent the law, while you are simply a washed-up talk show host. One does not need to see "both sides of the story" when one is firmly entrenched in that which is right. This silly notion that life could be otherwise is what makes you weak.

And if you think that I did not have a hand in why you were taken off the air in the first place, think again, little girl. I am a member in good standing of the government, and your belief that you can travel where the Ministry cannot reach is, quite simply, wrong. If you persist in publishing propaganda, rest assured that the Ministry will discover it and will punish you. That is how things work, Glenda. Think on that.

You're threats and harsh words are nothing to be, Dolores. You don't scare me, I am not an eleven year old girl at Hogwart's anymore. And you were never part of my schooling experience, if anything you are just another mouthpiece for the Ministry. I have seen you before, Dolores; You are nothing new to me. Scrimgour, Fudge and so on. All names etched on a wall. Nothing more.

You do not wield any kind of supernatural power. You are not a god, Dolores, just another teacher. And not a very adept one either.

Maybe I am a washed up talk show host, but I have something you will never have. People who will stand with me without my having to bully them into it. I can gain my respect for my profession without fear or lies, but with truth and caring.

Don't try and scare me, Dolores. You don't have it in you.

Now really, Glenda, if you truly believe I was trying to scare you, you aren't as talented a journalist as you believe. I wasn't doing anything of the kind. I was stating facts. Your insults and cries for what you believe to be justice and fairness are nothing in the face of the law. What you believe to be truth and caring will be revealed in time as nothing but propaganda and weakness. You fight against the Law, Ms. Chittock, and that is a fight you can neither win nor ever hope to be justified in.

You keep repeating that statement about the Law.

What I am disagreeing with is the Law at the moment, this is true. But I am reminded of a time in the not so distant past when the Ministry stood for fairness and equality for all the wizarding world.

The part that is the most sad here is the you are so desperate for laws and rules, so hungrily need someone to be loyal to and to serve blindly that you will listen to anything the Ministry gives you. If it were all to change tomorrow, you would switch sides and pander to whomever is in charge.

You don't have an independent thought in your mind, Dolores. You are a lap dog blindly following your master, and when your master leaves, you'll follow another. You have no morals or ethics, only those that you are tld to have.

I am not angry or hurt by your words. I just feel sorry for you, Dolores. Sorry for anyone who cannot have any form of free thought.

My dear girl, I have stated before and will continue to reiterate that your continued habit of insulting both the Ministry and myself is both pathetic and seditious, and that it changes nothing. It does nothing but amuse me that you "feel sorry" for me. The irony does not escape me in the slightest, I assure you. What you continue to cry out for, this so-called free thought and independence, is what has resulted in your unemployment and your increasingly shaky status in our great society. These supposed virtues have been shown time and again to do nothing but weaken the foundation of our civilization, and the Law exists to correct these errors and rebuild what is crumbling. I will uphold this with every ounce of strength within me, I assure you.

The more you continue to publically proclaim your treasonous views, in whatever forum, the more you demonstrate exactly why our education system must be revisited and renewed. I am only sorry that I was unable to teach you in time to correct these erroneous views, my dear.

I have heard about how you deal your students and how you correct them. Which in my mind is nothing short of barbary, but that is my opinion. However treasonous it may be.

My status is perfectly fine with the people I choose to associate with, Dolores. I may be unemployed at the moment, but if that is the price I pay for freedom of speech to myself and others. So be it.

I will continue to speak my mind and let my thoughts be heard. No matter what.
